First meeting with Rivolta in Milan

More than a century old, Rivolta is a shoemaker maison that has recently been revived by an ambitious Italian family who seeks to restore its banner to its former glory.  Situated in the most desirable address in Milan on Via della Spiga, it is, like all shoemakers, housed in a humble but well-appointed shop.  Everything in the shop tells of its 130-year history of shoemaking without exaggeration or ostentation.  It is a bespoke shoemaker, with only a small offering of ready-made shoes, as the time I visited.

Manuela, the present owner, is au courant with the shoemaking business.  As this was my first visit, I took my time surveying their samples.  More on my first order later.
